Driving Lesson Prices in Adelaide
Happy Driving School provides structured driving lessons in Adelaide for learner drivers, overseas licence holders and students preparing for the South Australian VORT driving test.
Prices below are designed to be clear and simple. Please read the booking, cancellation and licence requirements before making a booking.
Lesson Prices
Lesson prices are the same whether the lesson is conducted in the instructor’s car or the student’s car. All lesson prices below include GST.
60 Minutes
$125Suitable for a focused driving assessment, one specific skill, or a shorter local lesson.
90 Minutes
$185A balanced option for most students. Good for test preparation, manoeuvres, road-rule practice and feedback.
120 Minutes
$240Suitable for overseas licence holders, mock-test style lessons, or students who need more time to build consistency.
Evening Lesson
120 minutes: $250
Evening lessons are usually available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
5-Hour Package
5 hours: $550
A discount package for one student. Please read the package policy before purchasing.
Which Lesson Length Should I Choose?
New Learner Drivers
Beginner drivers usually need structured lessons over time. A 90-minute or 120-minute lesson is usually more useful than a short lesson because it allows time for explanation, practice and feedback.
VORT Test Preparation
Students preparing for the VORT normally need practice with observation, signalling, give way judgement, road positioning, speed control and the 5 slow speed manoeuvres.
Overseas Licence Holders
Experienced overseas drivers may still need time to adjust to South Australian road rules, test standards, local traffic behaviour and examiner expectations.
VORT Test Fee Information
VORT test fees are separate from normal driving lesson fees. In South Australia, VORT examiners are private authorised examiners, so the fee may vary between examiners.

Test fee examples may include examiner fee, government administration fee, booking fee and GST, depending on the examiner’s arrangement. Please confirm the exact fee before booking.
What to Bring to Your Lesson
Please bring the correct licence documents to every lesson. If you forget the required licence documents, the lesson may not be able to proceed and the full lesson fee may still apply.
Learner Permit Holders
Bring your valid South Australian learner permit. Learner permit holders may also use the mySAGOV app digital licence where accepted.
Overseas Licence Holders
Bring your original overseas driver licence, approved hardcopy translation if required, and your passport or another suitable photo ID.
Footwear Safety
For safety reasons, please do not wear thongs, very high heels, platform shoes or footwear that makes pedal control unsafe.
Booking and Cancellation Policy
Lesson cancellation
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or change a driving lesson. Less than 24 hours’ notice may result in the full lesson fee being charged.
VORT test cancellation
A VORT test cancelled within 7 working days of the test date is non-refundable. If a test is cancelled outside 7 working days, a $100 cancellation fee may apply.
Late arrival
If a student is late for a VORT test, the examiner may cancel the test. The full test fee may still apply.
Licence documents
If you forget the required licence documents for a lesson or test, the lesson or test may not be able to proceed and fees may still apply.
5-Hour Discount Package Policy
The 5-hour package is designed for one student who wants to prepay a small block of driving lessons at a discounted rate.
- The 5-hour package is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.
- The package is intended for one student only and is not transferable.
- The package may only be used for driving lessons or services provided by Happy Driving School.
- The package cannot be combined with other offers, promotions or discounts.
- Please keep your package details safe. Lost or misplaced package information may not be recoverable.
- If there is any difference between translated versions, the English version of this policy applies.

To save time during your first lesson, please prepare your licence information and contact details before booking.
Booking availability may change. Friday is usually not available. Students preparing for a test are encouraged to book early, especially before a planned VORT test date.
